The Greater Accra Regional Hospital (GARH) has outlined major achievements as part of its 5 years of operations as a new facility.GARH has for the past years delivered curative health promotion and prevention services in Accra and beyond.
With a drive for excellence, continuous improvement and innovation, the hospital is poised to deliver even better services.
The celebration is scheduled to begin from 14th to 20th November, 2020 under the theme: “Quality Health care Delivery: The Role of a Modern, Public Health Facility.”
Addressing the media at a news conference on Monday to commence the activities of the celebration, the Medical Director of GARH, Dr. Emmanuel Srofenyoh disclosed that the hospital had undergone a major transformation of its physical and operational capacity, leading to the achievements so far.
Some of these achievements, he outlined, are the availability of specialised services, the establishment of Bone Marrow Transplantation and Plasmapheresis center and stem cell treatment center to treat chronic diseases such as chronic kidney diseases, stroke and many others.
Dr Srofenyoh added that the hospital has a strong and robust institutional Public Health Center establishment of Dialysis Centre under PPP arrangement and also construction of Family Medicine and Wellness Centre and additional Laboratory Units.
“The implementation of an effective Functional and Central Emergency System has also made GARH a major destination for emergency referrals in the city, with the establishment of a bed management bureau to address the no bed syndrome.” he said.
According to him, the old RidGe Hospital was a 192-bed capacity facility but was upgraded and expanded into an ultramodern 420-bed capacity, under phase I of the hospital project, with the full complement of the specialist services to meet the growing demands of the country.
The project was as a result of Government efforts to improve upon the deplorable infrastructural situation at the Old Ridge Hospital and scale up access to quality health care services.
The Chairman of the anniversary Planning Committee, Mr. Justice Ahorlu, who also addressed the media said the hospital in the previous day engaged in a Community Durbar/Clean-up exercise and a free medical screening.
