The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects, Sani Abacha, 28 and Asante Eric, 23 in connection with a case of robbery, murder and attempted murder that occurred at Aduman in the Afigya Kwabre South District on Sunday, October 19, 2025.

A statement signed by ASP Emmanuel Agbodzi, Acting Public Relations Officer (PRO),
Ashanti North Command, disclosed that preliminary investigations indicated that on the
day of the incident, the complainant parked his tricycle (popularly known as Aboboyaa) at his residence at Aduman Old Town and travelled to Kumasi.

Upon his return that evening, both the tricycle and his two housekeepers, Kwabena Yankyira, 18 and Kwabena Boateng, l5, were missing.
Further investigation revealed that suspect Sani Abacha, who had planned to rob the tricycle, lured the victims under the pretext of using it to transport firewood from his farm.

After leading them into a bush, he attacked both victims with a cutlass, inflicting multiple
wounds, before fleeing with the tricycle. He later contacted Eric Asante and together
they hid the tricycle at the Aboabogya Cemetery and sold it later to a third suspect, Balawe, who is currently at large.

The following morning, a resident found Kwabena Yankyira unconscious on a cocoa farm near the Aduman Old Town Cemetery, with deep cutlass wounds on his neck, head
and ear. He was rushed to St. Patrick’s Hospital at Maase-Offinso for treatment.
Shortly after, the body of Kwabena Boateng was also found nearby with similar injuries.
Police visited the scene, leading to the retrieval of a cutlass, believed to have been used
in the attack and conveyed the deceased’s body to St. Patrick’s Hospital for preservation and autopsy.

Following an intensive operation, Sani Abacha was arrested on October 24, 2025 at
Asafo Tinkamu. He subsequently led police to arrest Eric Asante at Aboabogya. Both suspects have confessed to their involvement in the crime.

On October 28, 2025 the two suspects were arraigned before the Kodie Magistrate Court
on provisional charges of robbery and murder and have been remanded into prison custody to reappear on November 25, 2025.

The police said efforts were being made to apprehend the third suspect and recover the
stolen tricycle.
