Matchday Six of the Premier League produced renewed momentum for some of the league’s powerhouses, with Hearts of Oak keeping pace at the top.
Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways with a commanding 2-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park, ending a two-game winless run and maintaining their unbeaten start to the season.
The Phobians, who came into the fixture unbeaten in their last nine meetings with Chelsea, extended that impressive record with a disciplined and efficient performance.
After a tightly contested first half, Hearts found the breakthrough in the 62nd minute when a dangerous corner caused confusion in the Chelsea box. Hamza Issah reacted quickest, steering the ball home with precision to give the visitors a deserved lead.
In stoppage time, Mawuli Wayo put the result beyond doubt, calmly slotting home a rebound after a header had struck the post in the 92nd minute.
The win lifts Hearts of Oak to third place on the league table with three wins and three draws, just one point behind the leaders. For Berekum Chelsea, the defeat halts their brief revival following a win and a draw in their previous two outings.
Coach Didi Dramani will be delighted with the display, especially as it marks the first time this season his side has scored twice in a single match. Hearts will return to Accra to face Bibiani Gold Stars, while Chelsea have an outstanding midweek fixture against the same opponent before visiting Young Apostles.
