Century Aviation Ltd, a fully Ghanaian-owned aviation company, has achieved a new milestone in Ghana’s air transport sector following a successful demonstration flight to Ho Airport in the Volta Region.

The 30-minute flight showcased the efficiency of the aircraft, which returned safely to Accra around 4:35 p.m.

The demonstration was a collaboration between Century Aviation and Africair, the authorised Africa representatives of Textron Aviation, manufacturers of the Cessna SkyCourier.

The two companies have been working together for the past four years to develop a dependable and efficient air taxi service tailored to Ghana’s growing transportation needs.

Century Aviation aims to operate scheduled passenger and cargo flights to underserved destinations across Ghana, while expanding its charter services for multinational corporations, including those in the oil, gas and mining sectors.

Speaking after the flight, Mrs. Essie Anno Sackey, Managing Director of Century Aviation, lauded the performance and flexibility of the SkyCourier aircraft.

“We are particularly impressed with two things – one is that you can easily reconfigure the internal space for passengers or cargo, depending on the flight requirements.

“The other is that the SkyCourier can land and take off on various runway surfaces, allowing us to service underserved destinations in Ghana and West Africa, as we are planning,” she said.

The Cessna SkyCourier is a twin-engine, high-wing turboprop aircraft designed for low maintenance and high versatility.

It accommodates up to 19 passengers with extra legroom, USB charging ports and large windows along every row.

The aircraft boasts a maximum cruise speed of 389 km/h, an operating altitude of 25,000 feet, and a range of 1,704 km.

It can also be operated by a single pilot and carries up to 6,000 pounds of cargo. The successful demonstration flight marks a significant step toward expanding domestic aviation connectivity, offering Ghanaians faster and more efficient travel options across the country and the sub-region.
