Wayne Rooney believes Tottenham Hotspurs will be enjoying more from Mohammed Kudus after the Ghanaian midfielder opening his goal-scoring account for the club since his summer move against Leeds United on Saturday.

Kudus netted the match-winner as Spurs continued their fine start to the campaign with an important win on the road.

While Spurs have turned thing around following a miserable campaign last season, Kudus has been pivotal for Thomas Frank’s men as he registered his fourth assist – the most in the Premier League – at Elland Road.

Rooney, a Manchester United and England legend, insists Kudus has had the most impact at Spurs and he is gradually becoming an influential figure for the Europa League winners.

“I think he has been a breath of fresh air. I think if you look at the stats from today’s game he is first in everything. Duels won, successful dribbles, shots, touches in opposition box. He has real impact for Tottenham this season.

“He has got four assists this season, joint first in the Premier League and he has by far had the most successful dribbles in the league. All that was missing was the goal and I think that goal today will push him to the next level and he has been a real top turner,” he told BBC Sport.

The £55m player has left England for Morocco ahead of Ghana’s decisive World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic on October 8.
