The youth of the Ashanti Region, backed by groups from across the country, have openly declared their support for Dr Bryan Acheampong, who is contesting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary, with the hope of leading the party into the 2028 general elections.
To them, Bryan is the “unifier and doer” the party needs for victory.
Addressing a news conference in Kumasi on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 the youth, led by Kwaku Anaafi, Nkansa Ababio and others said their decision to endorse the former Minister for Food and Agriculture was based on his proven achievements in public service, private enterprise and community development.
“At this crossroads, Ghana needs a leader who is more than a politician, a statesman, a unifier, a doer. That leader is Bryan Acheampong,” the groups declared.
The youth praised Dr Bryan Acheampong’s transformation of the agricultural sector through Planting for Food and Jobs 2.0 which moved Ghana from subsidy dependence to a value-chain credit system.
They also cited his efforts to expand irrigation in the Afram Plains and his leadership in securing fair pricing for cocoa farmers during his time at COCOBOD.
His international role as Chairman of the Côte d’Ivoire–Ghana Cocoa Initiative was highlighted as a milestone in strengthening the bargaining power of West African farmers in the global cocoa industry.
Bryan Acheampong’s crisis management record during the COVID-19 pandemic also earned him praise.
The youth credited him with spearheading interventions such as providing boreholes, drying platforms, farm inputs, and job-preserving initiatives that protected rural communities from economic shocks.
In addition to his public service, Acheampong’s investments in the private sector were recognised as a demonstration of visionary leadership.
Through Rock City Hotel, he has created hundreds of jobs for young people while supporting local farmers and artisans with steady market opportunities.
In his Abetifi constituency, his initiatives including scholarships for students, vocational training, boreholes and health programs were pointed to as proof of his commitment to grassroots development.
The youth maintained that Dr Bryan Acheampong embodies the qualities the NPP requires in its next leader: competence, credibility, discipline, charisma and neutrality.
They urged party executives, delegates, and polling station officers to rally behind him, arguing that his candidacy offers the best chance to unify the party ahead of the 2028 polls.
“Bryan Acheampong has proven himself as a doer and a unifier. We are confident he has the vision and the track record to lead the New Patriotic Party into the future,” the youth declared.
