The Federal Government on Monday declared Wednesday, October 1, as a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced this on Monday.
In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Magdalene Ajani, the minister congratulated Nigerians on the “historic milestone”.
He urged citizens to continue upholding patriotism, unity, and resilience, which he said have kept the nation together since its independence in 1960.
The minister also called on Nigerians to keep faith in President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda, which he said is focused on national rebirth, economic growth, and shared prosperity.
Tunji-Ojo stated that with collective effort, Nigeria would continue to advance in peace, progress and development.
The Minister expressed confidence that, with the cooperation of all Nigerians, the country will continue to grow stronger in peace.
