Bryan Acheampong’s support among NPP delegates surges by 35%. OBM Consultancy, a Ghana-based political research and analytics group has released new data, following its field research conducted before and during the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Delegates Conference. The findings offer a pulse check on emerging leadership preferences within the party’s rank and file.
This latest poll confirms an earlier momentum seen in a survey released two weeks ago by Future Governance Analytics Project (FGAP), which found Dr. Bryan Acheampong’s popularity surging from 12.7% in April to 28.1% by June – a remarkable 15.4 point gain, marking him as the fastest‑rising contender in the NPP’s internal contest.
According to the new poll, shared early Monday morning, Dr. Bryan Acheampong secured 37.8% support among sampled delegates (an increase of 35% on his June performance), firmly positioning him as a leading candidate in what has been considered a tight and unpredictable contest.
The outcome marks a significant development in the internal dynamics of the NPP, suggesting that the Abetifi lawmaker’s campaign, built on a message of discipline, restructuring and grassroots restoration is gaining momentum among the party’s Electoral College.
The poll adds to a growing narrative that delegates may be pivoting away from traditional frontrunners toward a new standard-bearer with a more hands-on and field-oriented profile.
Dr. Bryan Acheampong, a former Minister for Food and Agriculture and prominent businessman, has in recent months intensified his outreach to delegates, drawing attention for his methodical, action-oriented and non-flamboyant campaign style.
The timing of this poll is also significant. The results come just weeks after the NPP’s National Executive Council endorsed January 2026 as the proposed timeline for the party’s presidential primary. With the internal calendar firming up, delegates are beginning to align with candidates they believe can secure the party’s fortunes in the 2028 general elections.
Party insiders say the data is an early indication that Dr. Acheampong’s quiet but strategic engagement is resonating with a broad cross-section of the party’s base, especially those calling for generational renewal and a fresh governing approach.
The poll results have reignited interest and discussion ahead of what is shaping up to be a pivotal internal contest.
