Robbery incident claims 3 lives at Maame Amma Village

A robbery incident that took place at Maame Amma Village in the Bosome-Freho District of Ashanti region near Nsokote ended in the  untimely death of 50-year-old farmer and cocoa purchasing clerk, Mr. Emmanuel Kojo Obeng.

Two of the suspected robbers identified as Kofi Adjei, 23, and Yaw Agyemang Acquah, 22, were lynched while two others, Richard Arhin, 26, and Eric Osei, 27, were arrested.

Briefing the media, the Fomena District Police Commander, DSP Samson Wunyi Mumuni, said in the early hours of Tuesday the whole village of Maame Amma got the message that robbers had invaded the community.

He said Mr. Emmanuel Kojo Obeng, upon hearing the message came out of his room, but was unlucky as he came face to face with the robbers who shot and killed him instantly.

DSP Samson Wunyi Mumuni said based on the news of his death, the youth mounted an intensive search and succeeded in lynching two of them, while the police rescued the two others.

He said those who were severely beaten were pronounced dead on arrival at the Fomena Government Hospital, while those arrested are in police custody awaiting prosecution in a law court.

The Commander said it is believed that the robbers threw their weapons into the forest and the police could not find any weapons.

BB cartridges were, however, found during a search on the suspects.
