Ms. Zainabu Ibrahim speaking to The Chronicle

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Woman Organiser for Subin Ward 6 Polling Station and a Businesswoman, Zainabu Ibrahim, popularly known as ‘Amalia NDC’, has expressed her dismay over the party’s neglect of Ward 6 over the years.

She has also complained about the allocation of the School Feeding slots to non-party members at the expense of female members of the party.

She alleged that these slots are sold out by constituency executives to individuals who are not members of the party.

Complaining to The Chronicle, ‘Amalia NDC’ disclosed that she has served the party for over three decades with her own resources, including finance, energy and time among others.

She poured out her frustration at the fact that it had not been easy, being a “known NDC supporter” in the Subin constituency, which is an NPP stronghold, adding that not a minute passes without being ridiculed because she belongs to the NDC.

According to Zainabu Ibrahim, the seeming “snub” has contributed to the NDC’s low votes garnered in the constituency over the years, hence the NDC’s inability to win the Subin Parliamentary seat.

Zainabu Ibrahim mentioned that known NDC supporters within the Subin Constituency face mockery for not benefiting from the government, despite their active involvement in the campaign, culminating in NDC’s victory in the December 7, 2024 general elections.

As a result, ‘Amalia NDC’ has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to resource the NDC women in Subin with start-up capital via loan facilities for their economic empowerment, as well as eke out a decent livelihood.
