Mr George Wumbei Bilimor, Saboba District Chief Executive, has led a delegation comprising the District Coordinating Director and staff of the Assembly to inspect projects under the Gulf of Guinea Northern Region Social Cohesion (SOCO) project in the area. The move was to evaluate the projects’ progress and ensure their timely completion.

Their first point of call was Nankpel community, where they inspected the ongoing construction of roads and culverts meant to significantly improve transportation and accessibility in the area.

They then proceeded to Gbangbapong to monitor the progress of the CHPS compound project, which is to boost health care delivery for the people of the area.

The Saboba District has undertaken various SOCO projects, including infrastructure development initiatives such as the construction of a six-unit model girls’ school at Hilltop and the completion of a maternity ward with consulting rooms at Demong.

Market stores are also being constructed and market sheds have been renovated at the Saboba market.

In terms of water and sanitation, the district is drilling boreholes fitted with handpumps or solar-powered pumps and constructing limited mechanised water systems.

There are also community development projects, including the renovation of community centres and offices.

Mr George Bilimor said the projects were to enhance the district’s infrastructure, improve access to clean water, and support community development as well as enhance livelihoods, strengthen the local economy, and improve infrastructure in the area.

He was encouraged by the progress made so far and expressed the hope that the projects would be completed on schedule for use.

He emphasised that “Upon completion, they will significantly ease the burdens faced by our people and enhance the quality of life in these communities.”

SOCO projects are initiatives aimed at addressing social cohesion and development challenges in the northern parts of the country.
