Bayern Munich, Arsenal reunite at the Allianz Arena
Formerly Manchester City colleagues, currently league-winning managers, Vincent Kompany and Mikel Arteta reunite on the Allianz Arena touchline once more when Bayern Munich and Arsenal square off in Wednesday’s must-watch Champions League contest.
The Bundesliga champions chaotically dropped two points in an engrossing 3-3 draw with Viking FK on matchday two, whereas the Gunners produced another second-half show to sink Lille 3-0 in the English capital.
A Scandinavian slaughter preceded a Scandinavian setback for Bayern Munich in the Champions League, as after kicking off their bid for European Cup number seven with a 5-0 trouncing of Bodo/Glimt, Kompany’s men just about staved off the shock of almighty shocks on matchday two.
However, Wednesday’s hosts returned to their ruthless ways over the weekend, crushing RB Leipzig 6-1 at the Allianz Arena thanks in no small part to a Luis Diaz hat-trick, as well as a customary goal and two assists for Harry Kane.
Still unbeaten in all tournaments in 2026-27, Bayern have racked up a staggering 25 goals across their last six games and now set out to find the back of the net for the 24th Champions League game running.
Olise’s suspension deprives Bayern of a man with 14 goal involvements in just 10 games this season – a devastating blow before facing the best defensive team in the Champions League.
Arsenal are the only side yet to concede a goal in the 2026-27 tournament – a statistic that will surprise few – after following up their 1-0 Napoli triumph with a more emphatic lashing of Lille.

Real Madrid aim to make it three straight wins when they host Leipzig
Real Madrid will be aiming to make it three straight wins in the Champions League this season when they welcome RB Leipzig to Bernabeu.
Los Blancos have beaten Inter Milan and Roma in the 2026-27 league stage, while Leipzig have picked up three points, losing to Como before beating PSV Eindhoven.

Real Madrid are currently eighth in the overall Champions League table.
Jose Mourinho‘s side have had their problems this season, both on and off the field, but they have now been victorious in their last three matches since the Madrid derby.
Los Blancos will enter this match off the back of a 4-1 win over Sevilla, with the result leaving them third in the La Liga table on 21 points, six points behind the leaders Barcelona, who have been exceptional in the early stages of the campaign.
Real Madrid actually finished 11th in last season’s league stage and went on to reach the quarter-finals before losing to Bayern Munich; huge improvements are expected this term.
These two sides have locked horns on four previous occasions in the Champions League, and it is Real Madrid that lead the head-to-head record two wins to Leipzig’s one, while there has also been one draw.
Real Madrid are in good form at this moment in time, and we are expecting Mourinho’s team to be too strong for their German opponents on Wednesday night.

Manchester United take on Serie A outfit Como
Manchester United will be aiming to win for the first time since September 10 when they take on Serie A outfit Como in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The 20-time English champions have three points from their first two matches of the 2026-27 competition, which has left them in 13th spot in the Champions League league stage table, while Como are 12th in the division, also on three points.
Como are one of four debutants in this season’s Champions League league phase, securing qualification for the 2026-27 tournament courtesy of their fourth-place finish in Serie A last term, and they made the perfect start to the competition last month.
Indeed, Cesc Fabregas‘ side recorded a 4-1 win over RB Leipzig on September 10, but they were unable to follow up that result with another victory, suffering a 3-2 loss to Feyenoord in their second match in the competition last week, gathering three points from their first two matches.
Como will enter this match off the back of a 3-1 win over Fiorentina, with the result leaving them fifth in the Serie A table, claiming 14 points from seven matches.
The Blue and Whites are the 12th Italian club to feature in the Champions League, and history will be made on Wednesday, as they face English opposition for the first time.
Como will also tackle Lens, AEK Athens, Real Betis, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona in the league stage of this season’s Champions League.
Man United, meanwhile, started their 2026-27 Champions League league stage campaign with a 4-0 victory over Sabah, but they lost 2-0 to Atletico Madrid in their second match last week.
Como are a strong outfit, but we are backing the 20-time English champions to secure a valuable three points on Wednesday night.

Inter Milan will welcome Shakhtar Donetsk to San Siro
Still pointless in this season’s Champions League, former winners Inter Milan will welcome Shakhtar Donetsk to San Siro.
While the Italian giants lost a seven-goal thriller last time out, Shakhtar remain unbeaten after winning 3-1 in London.

Inter’s Champions League losing run continued last week, as they suffered a shock 4-3 defeat to Club Brugge in Milan.
Both seeking their first points, two blue-and-black clubs went toe to toe, and the Nerazzurri were beaten by the Blauw-Zwart despite Lautaro Martinez bagging a brace.
On all 85 previous occasions they had scored three or more goals in Europe, they had never lost, but Nicolo Tresoldi’s hat-trick finally ended that streak.
After departing at the first knockout round last season, by losing both legs to Bodo/Glimt, Inter had started this year’s campaign with a 2-1 loss to Real Madrid.
Now enduring their longest losing streak at the elite level, they have also been beaten seven times in their last eight Champions League fixtures.
Inter are under pressure to improve such dire results, and head coach Cristian Chivu must try to turn things around.
Six years to the day since they shocked Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, Shakhtar will try to topple Inter at San Siro.
