Kwanfinfi D/A Basic School has become the second school in the Atwima Mponua district of Ashanti region to benefit from the largesse of SOTA International, an American NGO.
In July 2024, the founder of the NGO, Dr. Kelli Ducloux, inaugurated a mechanized borehole at Achiase Wansamere, also in the Atwima Mponua district.
Last Tuesday, Dr Kelli in the company of her local associate, Madam Sutherland Adwoa Dawn, handed over a mechanised borehole SOTA International funded at the cost of GHc48,000 to the chiefs and elders, School Management committee, Parent Teacher Association, headteacher and staff of the Kwanfinfi Basic School, amid pomp and pageantry.
Dr. Kelli Ducloux said she was thrilled to have been able to fulfil the vision of providing clean potable drinking water to improve the lives of school children and families in the Ashanti region. She also presented GHc6,000 raised by her friends back home in the US to procure school uniforms for 49 pupils of the school.
Madam Adwoa Dawn, Executive Director of Bridge-To-Africa Connection (BTAC), and a coordinator of SOTA projects in Ghana, said she was encouraged by the fact that the African American community in the diaspora is ready to help with the growth and development of children in Ghana and Africa.
She promised to liaise with the Circle of Friends of BTAC to support the rehabilitation of the school buildings found in a dilapidated condition. Nana Frimpong and Nana Abena Serwaa, regent and Queen mother of the community respectively presented foodstuffs, fruits and a ram in appreciation of the gesture by SOTA International.
Mr. Frederick Antwi, Head teacher of the school received the cash donation of GHc6,000 on behalf of the school. Headteacher Antwi assured that water the project would be maintained to serve its purpose.
Sheikh Yussif Abubakar, Chairman of the school’s PTA thanked the donor and friends for the timely support. He noted that the gesture would go a long way to promote quality education through improved sanitation and help transform lives.
The Lake Bosomtwe District got its share of the boreholes from SOTA International when Dr. Kelli Ducloux also commissioned and handed over a mechanised borehole each to the Osei Adutwum Senior High School at Jachie and Sewua D/A 2 Primary school on Wednesday. Both the Jachie and Sewua projects cost GH¢96,000.
