Belco Heavy Machinery and Construction, was awarded a 32-week contract to build the six-unit classroom block to ease congestion and improve teaching and learning, which project has achieved about 95% completion in just 12 weeks.

During an inspection of the project, Dr. Amoakohene described the pace and quality of work as exemplary for other contractors to emulate, noting that the contractors have demonstrated a high level of commitment and professionalism.
According to him, this is the kind of commitment government expects from contractors handling public infrastructure projects.
“The Completion of the projects within such a short period deserves commendation and should serve as a benchmark for others”, he noted and urged other local contractors executing government projects to emulate Belco’s and Prudent Link dedication to timely and quality delivery.
He directed the District Chief Executive to submit weekly progress reports on the Nyinahin Senior High School project and other ongoing government projects within the district to ensure closer monitoring and timely completion.
Dr. Amoakohene stressed that the government would not tolerate unnecessary delays in the execution of critical educational infrastructure projects, emphasizing that such facilities are essential to improving access to quality education.
The Regional Minister also expressed the need to address gender disparities in schools and to intensify efforts to keep children in classrooms. He stressed the need to address the major threat to the male gender in our schools against progress with girl-child education and ensure boys remain in school and are punctual.

He disclosed that from his interactions, many of them are often on construction sites trying to make money instead of being in class. The Minister added that it has become important to engage more with communities and students directly, and to intensify the fight against illegal mining and child labour.
