The Eastern South Regional Police Command, with support from the National Operations Directorate, has arrested 258 suspects in connection with the violent disturbances that rocked Nsawam-Adoagyiri in the Eastern Region on July 7, 2026.
According to the police, preliminary investigations indicate that some youth allegedly looted shops, set an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) transformer ablaze, vandalized the Oko Anadwo Palace and an astro turf facility, and robbed several mobile money vendors, triggering fear and panic among residents.

During the security operation, officers recovered two locally manufactured firearms, quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, suspected tramadol and Viagra tablets, as well as several mobile phones believed to be relevant to the investigations.
The suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting investigators as efforts continue to identify all persons involved in the disturbances.
The Eastern South Regional Police Command has assured residents that adequate security measures have been put in place to protect lives and property and maintain law and order in the area.
The Command has also appealed to the public to volunteer any information that could assist with ongoing investigations by reporting to the nearest police station. It further urged residents, particularly the youth, to remain law-abiding and refrain from acts capable of undermining public peace and security.
