As part of this year’s Father’s Day observance on Sunday, 21st June, 2026, Ghanaian actress and movie producer Dzifa Agbetepey, with support from Royal Women in Cinema Ghana, paid tribute to veteran filmmaker, producer, and director Steve Asare Hackman of Hacky Films for his immense contribution to Ghana’s film industry.

The Father’s Day tribute is intended to honour one of Ghana’s most respected pioneers in filmmaking, whose dedication, mentorship, and commitment to nurturing talent have helped shape the careers of many actors, actresses, filmmakers, and producers over the years.

Speaking at the event, Dzifa Agbetepey expressed her deep gratitude to Mr. Hackman for believing in her talent and giving her the opportunity that transformed her career.

“Mr. Steve Asare Hackman produced and directed OH Mother, the film that gave me my first major lead role and brought me to stardom. I will always be grateful for the confidence he had in me and for opening the door that changed my life. This Father’s Day, I simply want to celebrate and honour him for the fatherly role he has played in the lives of many people in our industry. His legacy deserves to be appreciated while he is with us.” She said.

Steve Asare Hackman is an influential Ghanaian film producer, director, distributor, and industry executive whose contributions have been instrumental in the growth of Ghana’s modern movie industry.

Through Hacky Films, he became one of the pioneers of Ghana’s video film era, creating opportunities for emerging talents and contributing significantly to the development of what is now widely known as the Ghanaian movie industry.

Mr. Hackman also served as President of the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) from 2013 to 2016, where he championed anti-piracy efforts to protect the work of Ghanaian filmmakers.
