The curfew, which takes effect from Friday, June 19, 2026, will run daily from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and is backed by an Executive Instrument.
The affected communities are Keri, Abrewanko, Abrewanko Junction, Nyambo, Nyambo Junction, Shari, Kromase, Power, Nyakoma, Odomi, Bonakye and Nkwanta.
A statement issued by the Ministry of the Interior said the decision was taken based on recommendations from the National Security Council as part of efforts to maintain law and order in the affected communities.
The government has also imposed a total ban on the possession and carrying of arms, ammunition and other offensive weapons within the communities.
According to the statement, any individual found carrying weapons or ammunition in violation of the directive will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The government further appealed to chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth groups and residents of the affected communities to exercise restraint and contribute to efforts aimed at restoring peace.

The latest directive underscores the government’s determination to contain tensions and safeguard lives and property in the Nkwanta South Municipality, which has witnessed intermittent security disturbances in recent times.
