Mr. Albert Opoku, the Principal of Sampa Nursing Training College, has received the Global Health Research Meritorious Award at the Anatomy Advances 2026, CardioCare 2026 and PediaCare 2026 international conference held in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

The award is in recognition of his contributions to healthcare education, research, and the advancement of global medical practice.

The conference brought together experts, researchers, clinicians, and healthcare professionals from various countries to discuss emerging developments in anatomy, cardiology, paediatrics, and medical technology.

Participants praised Mr. Opoku’s leadership and his contribution to healthcare education, describing his recognition as a reflection of his commitment to advancing global health and improving medical training systems.

Mr. Opoku, who presided over the Conference, called for a more integrated approach to medical practice, emphasizing the need to combine anatomy, cardiology and paediatric care to improve healthcare outcomes globally.

The Ghanaian health educator noted that medicine is undergoing rapid transformation through artificial intelligence, virtual reality, precision medicine, and advanced diagnostic tools, stressing that stronger collaboration among medical disciplines is essential to improve patient care.

He explained that anatomy remains the foundation of medical science and surgical innovation, adding that modern technologies are reshaping how the subject is taught and applied in clinical practice.

On cardiovascular care, he observed that although heart-related diseases remain the leading cause of death globally, advances in minimally invasive procedures, data-driven diagnostics and precision medicine are significantly improving treatment and prevention.

Mr. Opoku also highlighted the importance of paediatric and neonatal care, stressing the need to ensure equitable healthcare access for children, particularly in regions where preventable diseases continue to pose serious health challenges.

Principal Opoku urged medical professionals and researchers to embrace interdisciplinary collaboration, share innovative ideas, mentor young practitioners and work collectively to advance global healthcare systems.
