The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested three persons for the unlawful possession and transportation of 2,600 rounds of AK-47 ammunition at the Kantanso–Asankare Police Barrier in the Ashanti Region.

The suspects, Kwame Afram, a bus driver, and Godfred Essel, his mate, were arrested on December 26, 2025, after police intercepted a Kia Granbird bus (GT 5771-18) travelling from Accra through Walewale to Paga.

A search of the vehicle uncovered two concealed containers loaded with the ammunition.

A third suspect, Mohammed Sisu, 21, believed to be the recipient, was arrested at Walewale on December 27, 2025, when he arrived to collect the consignment.
