23 Kidnap Victims Rescued In Niger State

Police authorities in Niger State have confirmed the rescue of nineteen kidnapped victims who were abducted along Tegina-Zungeru Road on November 1st. In a statement, the spokesman of the command Wasiu Abiodun said the rescue came after a joint security tactical team was mobilised and trailed the suspected kidnappers.

According to him, as a result of the sustained pressure, nineteen victims were recovered at different times along the notorious Pandogari Forest in Rafi Local Government Area.

The victims were in transit from Sokoto State to Bayelsa State before the attack. They were taken to a nearby clinic for medical attention, the police added.

Similarly, on the same day, suspected kidnappers attacked a vehicle with Reg. No. LND 863 YF from Yawuri Kebbi State heading to Asaba, Delta State. The attack occurred at a point between Kwana-Barau and Kundu village, and five persons were reportedly abducted. Unfortunately, one Emeka, the driver was shot dead.

A joint security tactical team responded and combed the forest, and in the process, four victims were rescued unhurt within Kattako forest, Rafi LGA. The police said efforts are being intensified to rescue the remaining victim in captivity.
