A major exhibition and business networking event, which also seeks to foster economic diversification in Obuasi, dubbed “Obuasi Trade Show 2023”, has been launched.
The trade show, which takes place at the Black Park, Obuasi, from 20th-25th December, and is being put together by AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi mine, in collaboration with the Obuasi East and Obuasi Municipal Assemblies, Akrofuom District Assembly and the Ghana Enterprise Agency.
The theme is “Harnessing Our Creative Potential to diversify the local economy of Obuasi”.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Edmund Oduro Agyei, Head of Stakeholder Engagement and Land Management of AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi mine noted that by bringing together industry leaders, entrepreneurs and decision makers the event fosters an environment conducive to exploring new possibilities, nurturing existing partnerships and forging new connections.
To the entrepreneurs and artisans, Mr. Edmund Oduro Agyei urged them to seize the opportunity to showcase their talents, products and services. “Be part of the Obuasi Trade Show, network and forge partnerships that will strengthen the fabric of the local economy,” he advised.
The Chairman of the Obuasi Trade Show Consortium, Mr. Ishmael Yakubu Coffie said, “The Trade Show initiative is focused on empowering individuals economically, and enabling them to lead fulfilling and productive lives.”
He urged all residents of Obuasi to actively participate in this year’s trade show and demonstrate their support for products made in Ghana.
The Akrofuom District Chief Executive, Mr. Maurice Jonas Woode, encouraged all entrepreneurs, business men and women as well as artisans to patronise the 5- day Programme to showcase their potentials to the Obuasi community and all those who will witness the event.
Madam Lucy Tuabu, Treasurer of the Obuasi Trade Show Consortium and an exhibitor in last year’s Trade Show shared her experience and said the show has benefitted her a lot as her smock business has seen a major boost and encouraged all and sundry to be part of this year’s event.
