The Dansoman Circuit Court presided over by Her Honour Halimah El-Alawa Abdul-Bassit has remanded two men into lawful custody for allegedly posing as security officers and robbing a craftsman at Kanda in the Greater Accra Region.

The accused persons, Abdul Rahman Ayuba, 35, a private security guard with Zoomlion Ghana Limited and Mohammed Safianu, alias Kaduna, 38, a trader, pleaded not guilty to five counts of falsely pretending to be a public officer, conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful entry, and stealing.

They were arraigned before the court after the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder, presented the facts of the case.

According to the charge sheet, the two, together with others currently at large, on September 28, 2025, at Kanda, Accra, falsely posed as security officers, unlawfully entered the residence of one Musah Abdullai and made away with several valuable items, including: three Samsung Android mobile phones, two iPhones, one Huawei mobile phone, a set of silver jewellery and an unspecified amount of cash.

The Prosecution’s Case

Chief Inspector Wonder told the court that the complainant, Musah Abdullai, is a craftsman residing at Kanda. On the day in question, Ayuba (A1), dressed in a police combat T-shirt, black jeans and military boots, accompanied by Safianu (A2) and two others in full military uniforms with face masks, stormed the complainant’s residence.

They allegedly forced their way into the complainant’s room and stole the listed items. The complainant was reportedly dragged outside and bundled toward a waiting taxi.

However, the commotion attracted neighbours, who rushed to his aid. In the ensuing confusion, Safianu and the two accomplices fled in the taxi with the stolen items, while Ayuba was overpowered and handed over to the police. Subsequent police investigations led to the arrest of Safianu on September 30, 2025.

In their caution statements, both men reportedly admitted to taking part in the act, but claimed that their accomplices escaped with the stolen property.

Both accused persons pleaded not guilty to all charges. The court ordered their remand into lawful custody to allow police to complete investigations and apprehend the remaining suspects.

They are expected to reappear before the court in the coming days as investigations continue.
