Two men have been arraigned before the Circuit Court 3 in Accra, charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, possession of firearms without authority and preparation to commit a crime.
The accused, Mark Asare, 37, an Okada rider from Peki Tsibom and Prince Worlanyo, 25, a driver from Jasikan, both in the Volta Region were arrested on September 11, 2025 at Pokuase in the Greater Accra Region.
The two, who now reside together in Pokuase, were picked up by a patrol team from the Alpha SWAT Unit of the Regional Police Headquarters.
According to the prosecution, led by DSP Augustine Kinsley Oppong, the police were on routine patrol when they spotted Asare acting suspiciously near the Pokuase Timber Market.
A search conducted on Asare allegedly revealed a locally manufactured pistol, two live BB cartridges, and a jack-knife.
Upon interrogation, Asare claimed that the firearm and ammunition belonged to his co-tenant, Prince Worlanyo. Police then arrested Worlanyo in the same area.
The suspects were subsequently handed over to the Regional CID, where investigations led to the charges brought against them.
Both accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges before Her Honour Susana Eduful.
Bail Conditions
The court granted bail to both accused persons in the sum of GH¢150,000.00 each, with two sureties. The sureties must justify the bail with title documents of any property in their names. The original documents are to be deposited at the court registry.
The court further directed the prosecution to file all disclosures and witness statements in line with the practice direction.
Adjournment
The case has been adjourned to October 21, 2025, for continuation.
