The Electoral Commission has approved the nominations of 13 candidates to contest the presidential election on December 7, 2024.
The Commission on Friday, September 20, 2024, issued a statement announcing the candidates who have successfully gone through the nomination process.
“The Electoral Commission wishes to inform the general public that the following persons have successfully gone through the nomination process and qualify to contest as candidates in the 2024 presidential election,” the EC said.
CANDIDATES
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, New Patriotic Party; John Dramani Mahama, National Democratic Congress; Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, Independent Candidate; Christian Kwabena Andrews, Ghana Union Movement; Daniel Augustus Lartey Jr., Great Consolidated Popular Party; George Twum-Barima-Adu, Independent Candidate.
The rest are Nana Kwame Bediako, Independent Candidate; Akua Donkor, Ghana Freedom Party; Hassan Abdulai Ayariga, All People’s Congress; Kofi Akpaloo, Liberal Party of Ghana; Mohammed Frimpong, National Democratic Party; Nana Akosua Frimpomaa Convention People’s Party; and Kofi, Independent Candidate.
In the statement signed by Samuel Tettey, Deputy Chairman, Operations, the Commission said it instituted a “thorough examination of the nomination forms” submitted by the candidates to ensure conformity with requirements as set out in law.
FILING
The EC, from September 9 to September 13, 2024, conducted the filing of nominations.
In all, 24 presidential candidate aspirants filed to be nominated to contest the presidential election, but only 13 were successful.
