Vote for best policies, not because of celebrity endorsements -Bridget Otoo cautions
Following the release of two songs by award-winning artistes, Sarkodie and Samini, in support of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Communication specialist Brigdet Otoo has asked Ghanaians to vote based on whichever candidate has the best policies and not on celebrity endorsements.
This comes after some sections of Ghanaians believe strongly that this public display of support by some celebrities for various parties is going to help them win majority votes in the upcoming December 7th elections.
According to the former employee of TV3, in a series of tweets, although celebrity endorsements are influential, most of them throw their weight to various political parties because of the money they have received and not because they have proper research on the said political parties policies and manifestos.
She also stated that celebrities do not care about the masses and only listen to the highest bidder.
Siting the Menzgold Saga as an example, Ms Otoo explained that none of the celebrities who were signed unto the Zylofon Media platform had the decency to apologise and sympathise with customers whose funds were locked up in the gold Dealership firm. According to her, they were listening to the “man who pays them” and not to professionals.
