Tweneboah Koduah is Best Farmer for Adansi Asokwa

Fifty-three year old Jewel Tweneboah Kodua of Anwona, at the weekend, emerged the Overall Adansi Asokwa District Best Farmer at Brofoyedru, where a forum was held to observe Farmers Day.

Beaming with smiles, Mr. Tweneboah Koduah explained that he started his farming career over 25 years ago, and currently employs 25 workers.

For his price, Mr. Tweneboah Koduah was presented with a tricycle, popularly called Aboboyaa, donated by AngloGold Ashanti, Obuasi mine, and other assorted items. Twenty-three other farmers also received various prizes.

The Adansi Asokwa District Chief Executive, Mr. Andrew Adu-Boahen, presented him with the keys to the tricycle.

In a speech, Mr. Adu-Boahen said the Adansi Asokwa Assembly was investing heavily in the various flagship programmes of the government to cushion farmers, and also serve as an avenue of employment for the teeming youth in the district.

He said the Assembly had nursed 100,000 oil palm seedlings under the Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) programme, and distributed them to farmers.

He noted that coconut production had become a big business with huge market potential, and as a result, the Assembly was set to supply 50,000 seedlings to farmers next year.

“Diversify into coconut production to boost your farm incomes as well as enhance your standard of living,” the DCE told the gathering.

The District Director of Agricultur, Mr. Samuel Tettey Ahulu while congratulating the award winners encouraged the youth to venture into agriculture noting that they will not regret doing so.
