Three sailors die at sea
Three sailors onboard a Ghanaian flagged fishing vessel died at sea when the main wire rope connected to the trawling board broke and struck them. One of the bodies has since been brought ashore leaving two in the belly of the vast ocean.
A report sighted by The Chronicle indicates that on Saturday October 10, 2020, at about 0100hrs, the vessel, FV LU RONG YUAN YU 930, was on fishing expedition at sea when the trawler board hit a rock and broke the main wire rope.
A sailor, Cosmos Tawiah, was struck in the head killing him instantly, while two others, Okoe Sowah and Stephen Nyarko, fell into the sea.
The report, which was dispatched to all relevant agencies, went on that efforts made to locate the two alive or dead proved futile.
A source close to Santa Fisheries Ghana Limited, operators of the fishing vessel, when reached, stated that both families of the deceased and authorities were at the Tema Fishing Harbour where she docked with the body of Cosmos Tawiah, with the other two feared dead.
