Things aren’t going well; Samini to Prez. Akufo-Addo

Once an ardent supporter of President Akufo-Addo, Samini has opened up about the economic hardship in the country.

In a tweet, Samini who composed a campaign song for the President when he was contesting for President said:

“I think it is time those of us who stuck our noses out for the president @NAkufoAddo to visit him and have a dialogue with him and tell him things aren’t going well.”

Samini’s tweet is part of the loud cry of Ghanaians about the economic crisis that has led to price hikes. Ghana’s inflation is currently at 27.6%, the highest so far. Government Statistician, Professor Kobina Annim blamed the increased inflation rate on transport fares and food prices mainly.

The rate of inflations for transport (39.0%), household equipment and maintenance (33.8%), housing, water, gas, and electricity (32.3%), and food and non-alcoholic beverages (30.1.6%) were higher than the national average (27.6%).

Also, the major drivers based on the year-on-year figures show that grapes, which are imported, saw a 100.8% inflation followed by diesel, 81.1%, also imported.
