Sissala East MP supports 100 apprentices in Tumu
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Sissala East Constituency in the Upper West Region, Amidu Chinnia Issahaku, has donated 100 sewing machines and GH¢2,000.00 to some young women in the constituency.
According to him, the donation forms part of his effort to empower women in the area as planned under his youth and women empowerment programme to help them acquire skills that would lead to self-employment.
Addressing the beneficiaries, he said they were going to be monitored by his (MP) team for further support to enable them complete their training.
The Sissala East MP further presented GH¢2,000.00 and some materials on behalf of the Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, to some 40 women as start-up capital to help train the women to acquire skills in soap making, Dettol and hand sanitiser production.
“The initiative is in fulfillment of the promise I made to the people towareds reducing the high rate of unemployment in the area.”
The MP said his outfit was working hard to bring more support to the people, as many areas were yet to be tackled.
“These 40 women’s efforts will be monitored and further support given based on their performance. So in all 140 women have been supported in this first phase, and by God’s grace, more will be done,” he indicated.
Chinna Issahaku added that as an MP to help develop the skill of the people so that they can have something doing on their own, and that’s the surest way to provide jobs to the people.
A beneficiary used the opportunity to thank the MP for the kind gesture, and urge her colleagues to embrace the programme as it offers a source of livelihood empowerment and their families, adding that they would also train interested individuals in the constituency to become responsible people in the area in future.
