Parents, guardians to guide wards in SHS school selection
The Ashanti Regional Directorate of the Ghana Educational Service, has urged parents and guardians to guide their wards to choose the right Senior High Schools (SHS) they believe their wards can gain admission into, following their completion of the Basic Educational Certificate Examination (BECE), before October 25,2020 grace period for SHS selection elapses.
In an interview with The Chronicle, the Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti Regional Education Directorate, Mr. Mark Ofori, urged parents to guide their wards on the selection of school ahead of their entry into SHS.
He revealed that when the weeks’ intervals elapse, there would not be any opportunity for students to choose the SHS they would like to attend.
He has, therefore, appealed to parents and guardians to engage their wards about this development in curtailing school selection challenges, when their results are released.
This, he said, can be achieved if parents engage their wards extensively and get actively involved in the selection of SHS schools their wards want to enroll.
According to him, many are students yet to complete the selection of SHS they would like to enroll in.
He told the newsmen that the Ashanti Regional Education Directorate wants parents and guardians to be in the know about the schools that their wards are selecting in order not to result in difficulties when their results are out.
