SHC new housing units commissioned at Adenta

Minister Asenso Boakye cutting the tape to commission the buildings

Mr Francis Asenso-Boakye, Minister for Works and Housing, has echoed the government’s commitment to providing quality but affordable housing for the citizens.

According to him, the government is determined to partner with private developers through acquisition and provision of land, which will take care of 40 percent (%) of the overall cost the housing units.

Currently, he said the country has over 2 million housing deficit, yet data has it that only 60% of the population can have access to housing supported from the government, and 35% out of the same number will find it more difficult to access housing even with the government support.

Speaking at the commissioning of Seasons Court at Adenta, one of State Housing Cooperation’s (SHC) flagship projects, in Accra yesterday, the Minister added that only 5% of the general population can on their own access housing without the government support.

This, he proudly congratulated State Housing Cooperation for stepping in to continuously fill the gap, which is now dominated by private developers.

He described the ceremony as a very important event because it is about shelter, one of the three basic but most important needs of humans, saying “as you know state housing is a developer and it is competing very well with other private sector developers.”

Mr Asenso-Boakye added that although SHC is owned by the state, in principle it is a profit-making entity of the state, charged to provide affordable housing below the market threshold.

He argued that even though affordability is a relative term, the price tag of houses being provided by SHC under ‘affordable’ is still beyond the range that the government envisaged.

“The government has come up with a new revised affordable housing programme that seeks to support the private sector including SHC with land and horizontal infrastructure with the view to reducing the construction cost up to about 40%,” he stated.

He disclosed that two of the affordable housing projects will spring up at Pokuase and Dedesua in Accra and Ashanti regions respectively.

The minister was particularly happy about the drastic transformation of SHC, which was near obsolete to a flamboyant and vibrant state enterprise.

“I’m happy to be associated the state housing story, it is a story that gives meaning to the notion that leadership counts. We are talking about a company that was not developing, it was not able to pay its staff and it was in a deplorable situation, but since the taking over of this administration, we have brought in new management working hand-in-hand with the staff of SHC, and the fortune of this company has turned round,” he stated.

Kwabena Ampofo Appiah, Managing Director of State Housing Company Limited added that the Seasons Court is a 16-housing unit for at least 60 families.

It was constructed within 18 months at a site formally used for dumping refuse and each of the buildings bears the name of SHC hardworking and long serving employee.

Mr Appiah said although the building had already been sold out, there are similar ones also at Adenta at various stages of completion.

Stephen Asiedu on behalf of the Director-General of State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) congratulated SHC for its steadfast commitment to provide affordable housing to the citizens.

He added that considering the strides that SHC had made with adequate capital injection, it can make great strides to close Ghana’s existing housing deficit.

Mr Asiedu also called on the private investor community to seriously consider collaborating with SHC in providing affordable housing.

Employers are not looking for graduates who will learn by rote … NACCA boss tells graduating students of CAUC

0

Professor Edward Appiah, Director General of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NACCA) has revealed that the mode which employers used to recruit graduates has changed.

According to him, employers are now after graduates who can proffer solutions to challenges.

“We are not looking for graduate who will learn by rote, we are not looking for graduate who will always want to ask for solutions. The economy now looks for graduates who already have solutions and are ready to offer the solutions when needed,” he said.

Speaking at the 8th Congregation of Christ Apostolic University College(CAUC), where 262 students graduated with Bachelor Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates, he urged the graduands to broaden their horizon by climbing higher the academic ladder.

“The first degree is just the foundation, it is up to you to make use of the world that is in front of you,” he advised the students.

On the revision of the pre-tertiary curriculum, the Director General of NACCA revealed that indeed the pre-tertiary curriculum has been revise and that science and technology, mathematics and 21st century skills have been included.

The President of CAUC, Prof Clement Somuah, on his part stated that science and technology is crucial in Ghana’s quest to become an industrialised state.

According to him, investing in science and technology education is a harbinger for the economic development of Ghana, adding that technological investment is an investment in the future of a nation’s industries and overall socio-economic competiveness.

To him, accelerated industrial development is a sine qua non for Ghana to address challenges such as poverty alleviation, unemployment and improve the living standards of the people. This epic initiative, he stated, will require a comprehensive approach that considers all aspects of the problem.

“Science and technology education is vital for the industrial development of Ghana; It is time for us as a nation to prioritise Science and Technology Education to drive accelerated industrial development,” he said at the ceremony, which was under the theme: “Revamping the Educational System to Address Unemployment and Accelerated Economic Development.”

On life after university education, the President of CAUC, expressed worry that one of the biggest challenges facing Ghana is graduate unemployment, disclosing that each year over 100,000 students graduate from tertiary institutions in Ghana to seek for jobs.

However, less than 20% are able to find employment in the formal sector, with the rest starting some businesses of their own or join the unemployed graduates.

According to Prof.Samuah, the management of CAUC is not oblivious of this growing challenge university graduates face in finding employment after graduation in a nation with high unemployment rate. He added that at CAUC every student takes courses in management, accounting and entrepreneurship to prepare them to go into business for themselves.

Prof Somuah subsequently urged the graduands to make a lasting impact, which contributes to the socio-economic development of Ghana.

Quoting the words of Alvin Toffler, he said: The illiterate of the twenty-first century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearnand relearn.”

On his part, the Chancellor of CAUC, Apostle Samuel Amponsah Frimpong(ESQ), suggested that the current educational system should be tailored toward addressing Ghana’s peculiar challenges while at the same time growing the Ghanaian economy.

Referencing the Ghana Statistical Service’s (GSS) 2022 Annual Household Income and Expenditure Survey (AHIES) Third Quarter Labour Statistics, Apostle Amponsah Frimpong underscored that the survey  highlights statistics on economic activities and unemployment rate in Ghana, adding that one worrying aspect of the survey was the unemployment statistics captured in the report.

“About 1.76 million persons were unemployed in the third quarter of 2022. Within this population, two out of every three unemployed persons were females.”

The CAUC Chancellor further expatiated on the GSS survey, noting that across the three quarters, about 157,000 persons experienced an unemployment spell thus they were unemployed in all the quarters in the year 2022. The report further puts the ratio of unemployment as 8.4%.

Apostle Samuel Amponsah Frimpong asserted that the challenges bedeviling the Ghanaian Economy makes one wonder whether the unemployment challenges could be addressed anytime soon.

Nevertheless,  Chancellor Amponsah charged the graduating students to help Ghana in reversing this unemployment trend.

“I, therefore, challenge you to dare the status quo and think about the possibilities to address this challenge confronting the nation.

“In doing so, you may not have to look for the job opportunities, but also have the initiative to create jobs through your own ingenuities.”

NDC, Finding Excuse for Imminent Defeat

0
Opinion

It was on Accra FM, that he was heard loud and clear speaking gibberish. He was heard saying that during the recent Kumawu by-elections, the New Patriotic Party violated electoral laws, by giving out GH¢ 50.00to electorates to buy their votes. He stressed that it was robbery.

During his submission, he said President Nana Akufo Addo killed people in order to be president. That was about those who got killed during the 2020 General Elections.

Now look at the NDC talking. The recent primaries to elect flag bearer and parliamentary candidates were conducted with a register that was not credible. A register where a lot of the names of the delegates were removed and replaced by unqualified people. Dr. Duffuor, a presidential aspirant, took the issue to court and it was proven that the register was not credible to be used in any form of elections.

I suppose the NDC will no longer attack the EC on issues centred on electoral registers.

The recent NDC primaries was also full of vote buying. At least there were social media videos where an aspirant in Ejura Sekyeredumasi constituency, Madam Juliana KinangWassan, was seen standing in the bucket of a pick-up, spraying Ghana cedi notes on delegates.

Also, veteran politician Nana Oye Bampoe Addo was said to have dished out at least GH¢ 2,000.00 to each of the over 2,500 delegates.

Some media houses also alleged that during the recent NDC primaries, tens of millions of Ghana cedis found their way out of aspirant’s hands into the pockets of delegates. And with all this someone from the NDC is falsely accusing the NPP of dishing out money to voters at the just ended Kumawu by-elections.

Then he came out again to say H.E. Nana Addo, had to kill people to become president.

The founder and rock of the NDC, Jerry John Rawlings is known, on record, for murdering innocent full blooded-Ghanaians to become leader of this nation. Rawlings murdered Afrifa, Acheampong, Utuka, Kotei, Akufo, Amedume, Felli and Boakye in 1979 to establish himself as the only person to rid this country off corruption and all forms of malfeasances.

When in actual fact, Afrifa was a leader of a government that overthrew the Nkrumah regime and set this country on the path of economic recovery.

When the National Liberation Council took over from Nkrumah’s CPP in February 1966, Ghana’s external debt was $ 1 billion. And by the time, the NLC handed over to Busia’s Progress Party, it had reduced the nation’s external debt to almost half; $ 572 million, a decrease of 42.8%.

In 2000, Rawlings, who came to inherit an external debt of $1.5 billion in 1981, ended the longest single reign of a leader and increased Ghana’s external debt to $ 6.7 billion, an increase of 318.75%.

The whole of Rawlings’ nineteen years reign was shrouded with economic mismanagement and in the end, the cedi crushed from ¢2.75 to $1.00 in 1981 to ¢ 6,500.00, over 243,500% depreciation.

Here is a man who killed innocent people in 1979 and beyond, so that he can be leader of this nation. What evident is there, that H.E. Nana Addo killed even a fowl as sacrifice to win the presidency? Rawlings shed blood and in doing so targeted the pure and innocent.

It is on record that he confessed before dying that all the two former heads of state and six senior Armed Forces officers he killed were only sacrificed so that many other corrupt and guilty ones must live.

From the panellist on Accra FM, it became clear that the NDC knowing that it is going into a match in which it will be whipped mercilessly, decided to start making excuses and drawing the attention of Ghanaians to imaginary reasons that would spell defeat for the party in the Assin-North by-elections.

An NDC member appeared on social media and told Ghanaians, that as far as Assin North is concerned, the NPP will not have it easy as it had in Kumawu. He highlighted on moneycracy which he claimed was showcased by the NPP in Kumawu which made it win the seat.

The NDC is not admitting that it performed miserably in Kumawu but rather giving reasons to imply that the NPPrigged the by-elections. Everything the opposition party is accusing the NPP of, it did in its recent primaries.

Apart from adulterating the party’s register by removing many qualified delegates and replacing them with those not qualified to vote in the primaries, money was used to entice delegates to vote in a certain way. Money and loads of it descended like manna descending from Heaven.

The Juliana and Nana Oye’s cases were just minor issues used to throw dust in Ghanaians’ eyes and draw their attentions from the true nature of moneycracy during the primaries.

The NDC has promised to match the NPP boot for boot in Assin North, meaning what? If the NPP gives out GH¢5.00 the NDC will give out GH¢50.00, is that it? If the EC presents a voters’ register, the NDC will produce its own, is that it? Or, will it be Do-Or-Die, where the NDC will come out in its violent self to wreak havoc during the by-elections?

Ghana will reign supreme in Assin-North and those who cry for war will be humbled by peace and love.

Police Inspector arrested

The Zonal Command of the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 16, has arrested and detained four personnel involved in the alleged abduction and extortion of N20 million from two suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo boys, in Bayelsa State.

DAILY POST gathered that the arrested police personnel confessed that two civilian accomplices, one Eyi Matthew Excel, and Mayor Goodluck Arab set up the Yahoo boys for extortion and kidnap.

The accused policemen were said to have stormed the residence of the Yahoo boys last Monday, who are indigenes of Bayelsa State but came in from Ghana, and arrested them with blindfolds to an unknown hotel in Azikoro town, where they tortured and threatened to kill them if they don’t cooperate.

They claimed someone from Ghana accused them of theft and threatened to kill them if they didn’t part with N50 million. However, after negotiations, the boys paid N20 million. The money was withdrawn in two tranches of N7 million and N13 million from the Automated Teller Machines of two commercial banks in Yenagoa.

While a report claimed the accused police personnel later offered their victims friendship and protection in Yenagoa and exchange numbers, others claimed the accused policemen asked for another N10 million a few days later.

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, on Wednesday, sought an adjournment of his petition challenging President Bola Tinubu’s victory.

Mr Obi’s lawyer, Awa Kalu, informed the five-member panel of the court headed by Haruna Tsammani, that due to “an unexpected development,” he would be seeking for an adjournment until Thursday.

“I am constrained to pray for an adjournment until tomorrow (Thursday),” Mr Kalu urged the court.

Lawyers to the respondents in the suit – Wole Olanipekun for Mr Tinubu; Lateef Fagbemi, All Progressives Congress (APC) and Abubakar Mahmoud for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did not oppose Mr Kalu’s request for an adjournment.

However, the chair of the panel, Mr Tsammani reminded Mr Obi’s legal team that they were eating into their allotted time.

“If you ask for an adjournment, you are eating into your time,” Mr Tsammani said.

Subsequently, the suit was adjourned until Thursday for further hearing.

0
Kano Governor Abba Yusuf

The governor issued the directive during an inspection visit to the Challawa Water Treatment Plant in Kano.

Feature: Once Saved Always Saved? Not So Continues….

Genesis 19:1-29

Gen. 19:1 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing [them] rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;

Gen 19:2 And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant’s house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.

Gen 19:3 And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.

Gen 19:4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, [even] the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:

Gen 19:5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where [are] the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

Gen 19:6 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,

Gen 19:7 And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.

Gen 19:8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as [is] good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.

Gen 19:9 And they said, Stand back. And they said [again], This one [fellow] came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, [even] Lot, and came near to break the door.

Gen 19:10 But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.

Gen 19:11 And they smote the men that [were] at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

Gen 19:12 And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring [them] out of this place:

Gen 19:13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the Lord (YAHWEH the covenant keeping All Mighty One); and the Lord hath sent us to destroy it.

Gen 19:14 And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the Lord (YAHWEH the covenant keeping All Mighty One) will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.

Gen 19:15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.

Gen 19:16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord (YAHWEH the covenant keeping All Mighty One) being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

Gen 19:17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.

Gen 19:18 And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord (YAHWEH the covenant keeping All Mighty One):Gen 19:19 Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:

Gen 19:20 Behold now, this city [is] near to flee unto, and it [is] a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, ([is] it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.

Gen 19:21 And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.

Gen 19:22 Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.

Gen 19:23 The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.

Gen 19:24 Then the Lord (YAHWEH the covenant keeping All Mighty One) rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven;

Gen 19:25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

Gen 19:26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

Gen 19:27 And Abraham got up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the Lord (YAHWEH the covenant keeping All Mighty One):

Gen.19:28 And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.

Gen 19:29 And it came to pass, when God (ELOHIM ‘the creator’) destroyed the cities of the plain, that God (ELOHIM ‘the creator’) remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.

The blindness was caused by dazzling of light. This is an example of demon spirit, sexual perverseness. At the time this history took place, there were no such bright lights, they were driven, even though they could not see.In our time, bright lights are on cars, trucks, airports, prisons and more.

But at the time of Genesis 19:11 took place, there were no such lights. American inventor Thomas Edison, invented the electric light sometime between his birth and death of 1847 and 1931.You will think it would surprise the unexpected homosexuals, to see such a bright light! But they were driven by a demon spirit of perverseness.

I put Genesis 19:1-29 before Genesis 17 and 18 to show that, a man or woman, bound by a demon of PERVERSENESS cannot help themselves, no matter what, like drugs.

But the All Mighty GOD = EL-SHADDAI loves you as much as He loves me, and He wants to set you free. The Pastors that are bound by perverseness, as they minister to their congregations, taking them down to hell with them, Yahweh is ready to deliver them.

Back in 1960’s, I was employed in a program called, ‘man to man’. My job was to recruit volunteers who would befriend a prisoner. And visit them for a year while they were still in prison; and help them when they were released for a year, to find jobs and start a new life free from crime and not to give them money.I would go to different churches to ask for volunteers.

I went to a Lutheran church and walked in the front door, I was given a vision, and saw a man with both hands jammed down in both pockets, stressed out.

The pastor saw me through the glass door into the main meeting room for the congregation. The Lord told me he was a homosexual, I was overcome with embarrassment to know of his perverseness. I am at a loss of words, to explain my feelings.

The best I can do, is think how low down I would feel, if I was exposed as one who would be involved in such corrupt sexual behavior, but for the Grace of God = ‘Yahweh’ there go I, but Yahweh Had set up this meeting long before I got there.

Yahweh saw in the heart of this pastor that he wanted to be free of this spirit of perverseness. The pastor came to me because the spirit of the Lord impressed him to, and asked me for help. I did not tell him about the vision, as I write this article, I am thinking I should have told him.

It would have given him great confidence in the love of Yahweh (God) for him, and wanted to set him free from perverseness. I set a date for the next Sunday, and brought my scrolls with the definitions and taught Romans 10:9.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

“If you talk to Yahweh with your mouth, and believed it in your heart that Yahweh raised His Lamb; our Lamb, from the dead, you will have a blood covenant, for all of the benefits of being in Covenant with Yahweh, i.e. be safe, to save, deliver or protect (literally or figuratively) : heal, preserve, (Life) save, (self) do well, make whole…The congregation was there, the pastor received his deliverance.

I am aware of that. The almighty had plans for my life before I was born. He started this ministering at 16 or 17, I was on the job training. I could have commanded that spirit of perverseness to come out and the pastor would have been free.

The All Mighty was already drawing the pastor. This is the song we sang at the church I grew up in. “who is that knocking, calling, seeking? Who is that troubling your soul? Surely its Jesus asking, seeking and wanting to make you whole. Luke 19:10. The Son of man is come to seek and save that which was lost.

There are many former homosexuals and lesbians that have experienced the love of the All Mighty One who knocked at the door of their hearts, and they let Him in. Part of a song sung by many “O’ how I love Him, how I adore Him, my life, my sunshine, my all and all, the great creator became my savior and all God’s fullness dwelt within”.

The word ‘SAVIOR’ in the Hebrew is YASHA, it means : To open wide or free (by implying) To be safe; causing, to free or succor: – at all, avenging, defend, deliver, deliverer, rescue, be safe, being (having) salvation, save, savior, get victor  SAVIOUR IN THE NEW COVENANT (GREEK) IS “SOTER” ‘4990’ It means: A deliverer, God or Christ. SALVATION IN THE GREEK IS ‘SOTERIA’ 4991 It means: (Rescue or Safety physically or morally; deliver, health, salvation, save, saving).

THE HEBREW WORD FOR SALVATION IS “YESHUAH 8668” It means: Rescue (Literally or figuratively) preserve, (naturally or spiritually): deliverance, help, safe, salvation, victorySAVE IN THE GREEK IS “SOZO” 4982 It means: “BE MADE WHOLE”, ‘Safe’; to save, deliver or protect (literally or figuratively): – heal, preserve, (life) save, (self) do well, be (make) whole.

SAVED IN THE GREEK IS “SOZO” 4982 It means: “BE MADE WHOLE”, ‘Safe’; to save, deliver or protect (literally or figuratively): – heal, preserve, (life) save, (self) do well, be (make) whole. There are fire men, police men, military, mothers, fathers, neighbors who have saved people from death, and some have lost their lives saving others.

But they could not save themselves from their own sins! You who used to be a homosexual, lesbian, drug addict and such were some of you. (To be continued).
