North Dayi District Assembly presents 700 mono-desks to schools

The North Dayi District Assembly (NDDA) has presented furniture worth GH¢388,752.00 to three second cycle institutions in the District to address the problem of furniture in the schools and to promote effective teaching and learning.

The beneficiary schools are the Anfoega Senior High School (SHS), Vakpo Senior High School (SHS) and the Vakpo Secondary Technical School (VASTS) and they were given mono-desks, dining hall table and benches 24 chairs and 12 tables for teachers.

Presenting the furniture to the schools, the North Dayi District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Edmond Kudjoh Attah, said the Assembly had identified quality education as key to the development of the area, and had, since 2017, been investing hugely in education at all levels in the District to achieve the needed development of the area.

Mr. Attah said school infrastructure and furniture were the basic problem the three second cycle schools in the District faced, which was affecting the free SHS policy, therefore, the Assembly, as part of its development policy, invested much in these areas, particularly for the SHS.

The DCE observed that whenever the government provided facilities like infrastructure and classroom furniture for the institutions, they did not take good care of them, and asked the students and the school management to cultivate the culture of maintenance to help prolong the lifespan of the furniture.

He also urged the students to take their lessons more seriously to justify the investment the government and their parents were making in them, to enable them become responsible adults in the future, while cautioning them against practices that would destroy their future.

The North District Education Planning Officer, Mr. Maxwell Amenu, commended the activities of the Assembly, which, he said, had helped in the promotion of quality education in the area over the years, and promised that the furniture would be taken good care of to serve the intended purpose.
