NFL star installed as Abranehene of Okuapeman
The Okuapehene, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo and his Elders have honoured Ezekiel Nana Ansah (Ziggy), an American football player, formerly with the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks, in the National Football League (NFL) in the United States of America.
The decision to confer the new title on Ezekiel Ansah follows his achievements in his newfound sports and his philanthropic and charitable work he has embarked on for the youth of Ghana and the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, through The Ezekiel Ansah Foundation (EAF).
His charitable and philanthropic work has caught the attention of the Okuapehene and his elders and has earned him the title of “ABRANHENE” – KING OF GIANTS.
Star defender Ezekiel is an old boy of Presbyterian Secondary School (PRESEC), which is also the Okuapehene’s alma mater, although the Okuapehene graduated a couple years ahead of him, and a friend to his senior brother.
Ezekiel Ansah was drafted into the first round with the fifth overall pick of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions and signed a four-year contract.
Starting from a humble beginnings and growing up in Accra, Ezekiel Ansah has become one of the most successful Defensive Ends in the National Football League and in spite of this achievement, he still remembers his roots and has been coming back to give back to his homeland Ghana.
After his installation, Abranhene Nana Ansah pledged to build a sports academy in Okuapeman to help the youth and develop the sporting activities in Okuapeman.
The Eastern regional director for sport development, Madam Gifty Fianoo and her executives expressed their appreciation and also pledged to work hand in hand, as the governing body in the region, to make this project a successful one.
