A proposed non-governmental organisation is in the formative stages in Kumasi to build social capital to complement the support base of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region.

The yet-to-be inaugurated social club, Asanteman NDC Club, would also propagate the ideals of John Dramani Manama, a presidential hopeful of the party, and seek to sensitise all Ashanti indigenes around the globe on the need to support the party to execute transformational development by an NDC government.

The brain behind the proposed Asanteman NDC Club is Madam Mary Armah, a founding member of the party and founder of the defunct Mahama Ladies Club, a pro-NDC group in 2016. The Interim Secretary, Mr. Benjamin Dwumfour, disclosed that the Club was to develop and adopt a strategic plan for each constituency across the country based on local needs, with the objective of ensuring victory for the NDC at the 2024 polls.

He said the Club aimed at empowering the general public in the face of the current economic hardships, which he said empowerment would lead to the building of financial capacity and social capital in a bid to help with the growth of the NDC.

He disclosed that the Club would hit the ground running by building the capacity of its members in the constituencies across the country.

The Club, he said further, would work primarily towards increasing NDC votes, percentage wise, in the Region to boost its electoral fortunes in the 2024 elections. “The important thing is for the NDC to win power,” he emphasised.

Madam Mary Armah re-affirmed the Club’s determination to embark on a vigorous campaign to enable the members canvass for support for the flag bearer-hopeful, former President John Mahama, and the NDC in the upcoming general elections.

She explained at a gathering in Kumasi that the group’s vision was to sell projects and programmes of the NDC government to create the needed awareness to the Ghanaian citizenry and ensure a resounding victory for the NDC in the 2024 elections.

“It is time for all members and supporters of the party to rekindle their collective efforts and renew their commitments to ensure that the party wins massively in 2024,” she encouraged members at the Club’s maiden meeting in Kumasi.

Mr. Thomas Sannie is the Interim Chairman of the three-member Directors of the Asanteman NDC Club.

He said activities of the Club would be funded solely from mobilised funds through fundraising and acquisition and management of assets, in line with the constitution of the Club.
