Ashantifest Launched To Showcase Rich Asante Culture, Customs

MTN-Ghana has launched the 2021 edition of Ashantifest to express appreciation to loyal customers and showcase the rich culture and customs of the people of Ashanti.

The Ashantifest is an initiative to be held annually across the country to promote the rich culture and customs within communities and catchment areas.

MTN-Ghana, the giant telecommunications network organises various events in the communities, contributing to its growth and in appreciation of their loyal patronage of MTN services.

Mr.NiiAdotey Mingle, General Manager, Sales, in charge of the Northern Business sector, at the launch, explained that the year 2021 marks the 11th anniversary of Ashantifest and 25 years of Scancom, adding that considering the scale of the celebration, MTN should have been celebrating with all the glamour it deserves, had it not been for the COVID-19 pandemic that has hit the nation.

He disclosed that the pandemic has drastically changed lives and the way things are done and that as a people, we have been able to wage a relentless and fruitful war against the pandemic and we are seeing some hope in our recovery.

He noted that MTN management has been bold to officially launch the 2021 edition of AshantiFest, which has successfully been organised to complement existing festivals to showcase the rich culture and customs of the people.

Mr. Mingle indicated that MTN AshantiFest is an opportunity to engage their customers and clients to further deepen their relationship with stakeholders in the region.

He noted that Ashantifest would afford the MTN to educate people about their innovative products and services while soliciting for feedback on services.

He observed that, this year’s Ashantifest would be unique and disclosed that the month-long celebrations would include community football gala, comprising Asafo, Kotei-Deduako, Fante Newtown, Tech, Abrepo, Bantama, Dichemso and AsokoreMampong communities on September 18 and 19,  2021 at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Paa Joe Stadium, Kumasi.

He also disclosed that, the finalists would be streamed live on MTN’s official handles.

There will also be a data offer package of an additional 500MB for every data purchased for anyone in the Ashanti region during this period.

He said MTN would hold a Media Editors forum, community forum, commemoration of International Literacy Day and a courtesy call on OtumfuoOsei Tutu II.

As part of the 25th anniversary celebration of MTN, Mr. Minglealso said a lot of activities, including promotions, are being organised to enable MTN to say thank you to their cherished customers.

The General Manager also disclosed that the top 250 customers have already received the latest phone on the market.

MTN Ghana, he revealed, is investing US$207 million into the network this year to provide users with a resilient network and to enable them modernise and expand the network.
