Melcom awards police officer for standing tall among colleagues
The Melcom Group of Companies has presented a prize to Inspector Theophilus Ayi Anang, for his outstanding performance in the Ghana Police Service.
The prize was presented by the Director of Brand Management at Melcom Group of Companies, Mrs Sonya Sadhwani, to Inspector Anang in Accra yesterday.
In a brief speech delivered by the Group’s Director of Communications, Mr Godwin Avenorgbo, he indicated that Melcom was inspired to acknowledge the officer for his devotion to lay down his life to enforce law and protect peace.
According to him, businesses could only flourish in an environment where peace and security thrive.
He said if businesses have confidence in security of the country, they are motivated to increase their investment by providing an effective service delivery, convenient shopping, affordable goods and services, more job opportunities, physical development and social cohesion among others.
“These and more can only be possible if by the determined effort and vigilance of the Ghana Police Service our investments are safe, property holdings are secured and our employees and Ghanaians in general feel safe to go about their daily routines,” he asserted.
According to him, due to the keen interest that Melcom attaches to the work of the police, it has been supporting the Accra Regional Police Command in the initiation of the award scheme, City Police initiative, to install confidence in the personnel.
Inspector Anang was accompanied by the Director of Public Affairs Department of the Police Service, ACP Kwesi Fori, editor of Police Diary, DSP Effia Tenge and other police entourage to receive the award.
Inspector Anang, who has been nick named the police officer with a “golden heart”, is the Coordinator of the National Welfare Steering Committee of the Police service and due to his commitment to the call, he has visited over 330 police personnel at hospitals and individual homes across the country.
The officer with the ‘golden heart’ had also attended almost every funeral rites involving any police personnel as well as making donation on behalf of the Service, since the inception of the welfare committee in 2019.
He attracted the noble prize and recommendation, for also being selfless in performing his duty as the liaison between the regional welfare caucuses and the general secretariat at the Police Headquarter so that personnel welfare matters could be addressed expeditiously.
Inspector Anang rich profile go further down to the excellent role he played as a plain-cloth officer with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) stations at Sunyani, Nsakaw, Banda, Ahenkro, Bechem and Prampram.This sterling performance by the inspector compelled the Melcom Group to award him with a double-door fridge, stocked drinks and other daily necessities.
