AN e-commerce platform, which allows businesses to trade online has been launched by the Sekondi Takoradi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (STCCI) at a short ceremony in Takoradi.

The Western Region Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, launched the digital platform aimed at promoting and facilitating trade among members and the business world.
The STCCI invested GHC660, 000.00 to develop the online digital platform with monthly subscription pegged at $1,800 for the online server space.
Its partner, the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce (HCK), is the sponsor of the e-commerce digital platform.

Dubbed ‘Chambers Market’, over 1000 businesses have since been listed on the platform to facilitate trade and business.
Unlike the other platforms, the STCCI e-commerce (www.chambersmarket.com) is a digital directorate where it gives description of what a business listed is all about, product and services at offer. In addition, it has the market where product listing and pricing can same be accessed.
Launching the platform, the Regional Minister commended the STCCI for the ingenuity in developing the online business platform to enable businesses trade online.
He said the use of Information, Communication Technology (ICT) should be encouraged and practiced.
He said the online platform would seek to open up businesses in the region to the outside world, that would in the end enable businesses transact sales and payment.
He said he was not surprised the STCCI had been able to develop the online platform, considering the calibre of brains behind the Chamber.

“What you have done is big, very big because the Chamber has been part of supporting the RCC to frame up our own mission and vision”.
The Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Chamber, Benjamin NiiKpani said to ensure security and integrity of the platform, the backroom staff will undertake an exercise to verify the integrity of businesses before they are eventually listed online.

The platform, he said, offers packages in the form of standard, corporate or premium depending on the size of one’s business.

Dr. ToniAubyn, a member and convener of the chamber’s safety conference congratulated the Chamber for developing the e-commerce platform.
According to him, the global winning formula is e-commerce and for the Chamber to develop such a platform meant it was on the right path.

He advised the Chamber to ensure that the integrity of the platform was secured considering the fact that ‘it is the integrity that will ensure that people use it”.
The Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, the sponsor of the platform, described the chamber’s market platform as a gateway to the African market.
