I regret giving Shatta Wale attention; Ponobiom

Uptown Energy Rapper, Ponobiom, formerly known as Yaa Pono, says he regrets replying Shatta Wale’s lyrical warfare with him.

The beef started in 2017 when reports went viral that Shatta Wale had prevented Ponobiom from performing at an event at the Cape Coast Stadium, which had the former as the headline Artiste.

Ponobiom indicated that, for the fear of stealing the show at the Cape Coast Stadium, Shatta Wale did everything possible to prevent him from performing. This, according to him, is due to the fact that he has a huge fan base in Cape Coast than Shatta Wale.

Unhappy with the utterances of Ponobiom about the incident, Shatta Wale responded by calling Ponobiom names, kick starting a lyrical war between the two.

Ponobiom had asked that Shatta should work with him to revive what was described as a dying music industry at the time.

Shatta Wale, however, referred to Ponobiom as an underground artist who didn’t deserve his hype and time. He, therefore, declined the request in a Twitter post.

This resulted in Ponobiom releasing the first diss song ‘Noko.’

Reacting to the incident years after their battle, Ponobiom in an interview said, “I wish I didn’t follow a fool.”

In an interview with Kumasi-based Pure FM which was monitored by The Chronicle, Ponobion said that one of his biggest regrets in his career as a musician was to have engaged in a public beef with Shatta Wale. To him, the dancehall act didn’t merit the battle in the first place.

According to Ponobiom, if he could turn back the hands of time, he would have ignored Shatta Wale.
