An Accra businessman, last Wednesday, travelled a distance of 248 kilometres (155 miles) from Accra to Kumasi to rescue Rahinatu Sulemana, who had been detained at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for non-payment of bills, after her discharge three weeks ago.

Mr. Alex Asare, Chief Executive Officer of AR Group of Company, paid GH¢7,198 to offset the patient’s indebtedness to the hospital.

AR Group focuses on providing excellent HR and Travel solutions to companies and individuals in Ghana and beyond.

Other services provided by AR Group include Local and International Recruitment and Payroll Management, Ticketing/Local and International Tours, and Car rental services.

Mr. Asare’s benevolence was in response to an appeal by Rahinatu for financial assistance published by The Chronicle of Monday, August 8, 2022.

Rahinatu was admitted to KATH on May 14, 2022, where she underwent surgery and subsequently treatment over a two-month period, having had complications after delivering her baby at the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital.

She managed to pay GH¢3,200.00 out of the total bill of GH¢10,469.89, but was detained after her discharge until the last pesewa was paid.

Following an appeal, Mr. Asare mobilised and rushed to Kumasi to personally settle the bills, and further transported the patient safely to her family at Konongo in the Asante Akim Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

Mr. Asare has since left to his base in Accra.

Meanwhile, Madam Salamatu Sulemana, mother of Rahinatu, has, on behalf of the family, thanked their benefactor profusely for the wonderful gesture, and asked God’s blessing for the entrepreneur (Asare) and his entire family.
