The Frante-Sekyedumase Sub-Traditional Council last week Friday out-doored Nana Akua Ahenesima I as Development Queen (Nkosuohemaa) of Frante near Sekyedumase in the Ejura Sekyedumase Municipality of the Ashanti region.

The ceremony, which was full of pomp and pageantry, was well attended by people including politicians, celebrities, actors, traditional and christian religious groups, as well as representatives from various groups and associations.

Known in private life as Princess Duncan, Nana Akua Ahenesima I, is the daughter of the renowned Scientist, Prof. Samuel Ato Duncan, the founder and President General of the Center of Awareness Global Peace Mission (COA).

Nana Akua Ahenesima I, who is also the Deputy CEO of COA, had earlier on Thursday sworn the oath of allegiance to the Frantehene, Nana Owusu SekyereBobo III and the elders of Frante.

The Frantehene explained that the development queen or Nkosuohemaa stool was created mainly for development purposes and admonished the Nkosuohemaa to vigorously pursue and realise her development dreams for the Frante area.

He appealed to the Nkosuohemaa to rally the youth of the area, especially the girls, and train them to explore their potentials, in order to reduce the spate of teenage motherhood and promiscuity in the traditional area.

The Nkosuohemaa, in a brief speech said her vision is to revive the culture and tradition of the people which have been forgotten or relegated to the background.

She said her own vision and that of her family for the Frante area and society in general, were enormous and called for the support of the people for realisation of same.

Prof. Samuel Ato Duncan explained that the vision of COA is to ensure global peace and added that development can only strive in a peaceful environment.

He said the Nkosuohemaa title was not for the beauty of it because it entailed a lot and called for the support of the community to ensure development of the area. He also promised to support the daughter to adopt and develop the Frante town to make it a model community in the area.

Nana Amankwah OtuoAmponsem II, Kokofu Aboasohene who chaired the durbar said he admired the youthful energy of the Nkosuohemaa to champion development issues in the Frante area even though she has everything and opportunity to enjoy her own life the way she wanted.

He appealed to the Nkosuohemaa to adopt the school in the town, which is in a deplorable state and uplift it to an appreciable level.

The Kokofu Aboasohene also appealed to the youth of the area to throw their full weight behind the new Nkosuohemaa to facilitate the role bestowed on her.

Some dignitaries at the ceremony included – Prof. Joshua Alabi and Felix Ofosu Kwakye of the NDC, Mr. Frank Kwadwo Duodu, Ashanti Regional Director of National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Akwasi Boadi, aka Akrobetu (Who ‘Nose’ Tomorrow), Koo Fori, Kwadwo Nkansah Lil Wayne and a host of others.
