Forest agree deal for Atletico Madrid Felipe

Nottingham Forest have agreed a £2million deal to sign Atletico Madrid centre-back Felipe.

The Premier League club have been trying to work out a deal to bolster their defence in recent days, and have now made a breakthrough in negotiations.

Felipe was pictured arriving at Forest’s training ground on Tuesday morning to complete a medical.

He would add experience to Forest’s backline which has looked shaky at times this season, with only Bournemouth conceding more goals than Steve Cooper’s side in the Premier League.

The Brazilian has spent the last four years at Atletico, but has fallen out of favour this season, making just three appearances in LaLiga. He now looks set to move to Forest to help the club in their relegation battle, with the team currently four points clear of the bottom three.

Felipe is unlikely to be the only arrival at Forest on deadline day, as the Premier League outfit close in on the signing of Jonjo Shelvey from Newcastle.

Shelvey underwent his medical on Monday after agreeing to join the club on a two-and-a-half year deal, and is expected to be announced as as Forest player in the coming hours.

But Forest are set to miss out on PSG duo Keylor Navas and Sergio Rico as their search for a new goalkeeper continues.
