Asantehemaa marks 6th anniversary of her enstoolment

Nana Yaa Asantewaa of Ejisu, Nana Difie of Mampong and other queenmothers join Asantehemaa to mark the occasion

The Asantehemaa, Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III, last Wednesday observed the sixth anniversary of her enstoolment as the 14th Queen of the Asante Kingdom.

The occasion was marked modestly as the queenmothers joined her in a special Queenmothers’ Lunch at Manhyia Palace.

Lady Julia Osei Tutu, wife of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, assisted the Asantehemaa to cut the anniversary cake.

In February 2017, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in consultation with the royal family, appointed his then 83-year-old elder sister, Nana Ama Konadu, as the new Asantehemaa to succeed her late mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II.

Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem, the 13th Asantehemaa, passed away in November 2016 at the age of 111 after reigning for 39 years.
