Armed gang robs Credit Union
Very reliable Information reaching The Chronicle has revealed that, about eight suspected armed robbers have stormed the local Credit Union, shot and injured one person and made away with an undisclosed amount of money at Jeninso/Akataniase in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region.
According to eyewitnesses, the robbers who were armed to the teeth last Wednesday evening succeeded in making away with millions of Ghana cedis in the operation.
The source disclosed that the robbers began their operation by shooting indiscriminately, killing one person instantly in the process when a stray bullet hit the deceased in the shoulder.
Mr. Emmanuel Felix Akwa Kwao, Manager of the Credit Union who spoke to The Chronicle explained that, three of the armed men entered the banking hall while three waited outside on guard while two others roamed about on the lookout.
He added that though no casualties were recorded, one person who was walking on the streets sustained a stray bullet injury and has since been stabilized.
At the time of filing this report, the manager said that the police are yet to visit the crime scene to ascertain the situation after the unfortunate incident.
