14 Kwadaso institutions to benefit from GKMA sanitation project

About 14 selected institutions from health and educational and municipal administrations, as well as other public offices within the Kwadaso Municipality, are to benefit from institutional toilet facilities under the Kumasi Metropolitan Area (KMA) sanitation project.

Some of the beneficiary institutions include the Prempeh Experimental School, SDA Hospital, Municipal Education office, Apatrapa Health Center, and Kwadaso Asuoyeboah M/A Basic Schools.

The project is being sponsored by the World Bank through the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources.

The Engineer from the KMA, the project consultant and management of the municipality have met with some key stakeholders, including the contractors, and selected officers of the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly to dialogue on the smooth implementation and commencement of the project.

Mr. Gabriel Engmann, Sanitary Engineer, Project Coordinating Unit at the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources disclosed that, the project would be fully financed by the World Bank for completion within a period of three months, hence, the institutions would only come in when completed for the managing and sustainability of the beneficiary institutions.

He urged the contractors to deliver a quality job with effective supervision from the consultant.

Mr. Annoman stated that the Sanitation Ministry, headed by Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah, was committed to ensuring an open defecation free Ghana through the implementation of household and institutional toilet facilities across the nation.

Mr. Richmond Agyenim Boateng, Municipal Chief Executive for Kwadaso, commended the government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources for selecting the municipality as part of the beneficiaries.

He cautioned recalcitrant households within the municipality without toilet facilities to brace themselves to face the full rigors of the law soon.
