Zoomlion donates motorbikes Environment Sanitation office
Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a waste management company, has donated nine motorbikes valued at GH¢18,000 to the Environment Sanitation office in the Upper West Region for their house to house sanitation and supervisory activities.
The Upper West Manager of Zoomlion, Mr. Emmanuel Volsuuri, who presented the motorbikes to the Upper West Regional Minister, Amin Amidu Sulemani, stated that the donation was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility to help the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development achieve the national policy on sanitation, which was recently launched by President John Dramani Mahama.
Mr. Volsuuri said the purpose of the national policy on sanitation was to use public education as a tool in changing the attitude of the general public towards insanitary practices.
He added that they had already recruited a workforce of 650 personnel in order to make the three months sanitation strategy work.
The Upper West Regional Minister, receiving the keys of the motorbikes, remarked that the issue of sanitation was of great importance to the government, but unfortunately, it could not fight it alone.
He called on all stakeholders, especially the media, to help educate the people on the need to keep their surroundings clean.
He advised the beneficiary districts and officials to use them judiciously, and also for the intended purpose for which they are given.
The Upper West Environmental Health and Sanitation Director, Mr. Jakpa Mumuni Rex, thanked Zoomlion for the donation, and pledged that it would be taken care of and used judiciously for the national strategy on sanitation to succeed.
