The ruling National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) quest to win the December 2012 elections has been given a big boost, following the launching of over 3,000-member volunteer group.
The group, dubbed ‘Volunteers For John Mahama’ (VFM) has memberships across the length and breadth of the country. The VFM is made up of people from all walks of life who are fired up to undertake intensive campaigns for NDC’s electoral victory in December. They include doctors, engineers, ICT professionals, students and sympathisers, among others.
The main mission of the newly launched group is to mobilise volunteers to work for John Mahama to win one-touch victory in the 2012 general elections, in order to advance the Better Ghana agenda.
President John Dramani Mahama was recently overwhelmingly endorsed at a special delegates congress to lead the umbrella family to further chase the elephant (NPP) into the bush.
Launching the ‘Volunteers For John Mahama in Accra’, the Campaign Coordinator of John Mahama, who is also the Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Mr. Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah stated that: “the enthusiastic sign-up and the overwhelming number of Volunteers For JM and the responses we are getting is a testament to the fact that President John Mahama is set for a one-touch resounding victory on December 7, 2012”.
According to him, the launch was a call for all Ghanaians looking for quality leadership, a leadership of integrity, a leadership of vision, a leadership of compassion, a leader of vibrant dynamism to rise up for the continuation of the Better Ghana agenda. This, he said required all party executives, party members, non-party members, neutrals, and others who believe in the vision and qualities of President Mahama are getting their hands on deck.
Mr. Afriyie-Ankrah told the volunteers that with some few weeks to the polls, they must be committed to work day and night, and leave no stone unturned to ensure a resounding success for the party.
He added: “regardless of your backgrounds, you are all united by the common resolve to work for a convincing victory for the President and the party”.
The Deputy Minister continued: “That objective can be achieved only when we display a great deal of unity of purpose, discipline, order and dedication in our work. We are like the Israeli Army led by Joshua, after the passing on of Mosses, to lead the nation to its promised land”.
Mr. Afriyie-Ankrah assured the volunteers of the support of great veterans and experienced warriors who will counsel them (volunteers) every step of the journey to get President John Mahama retain power, come January 2013.
