The President of United States of Africa Development Foundation (USADF), Lloyd Pearson, has interacted with vegetable farmers in Dzorwulu, a suburb of Accra.
The vegetable famers are under a special programme developed by Eden Tree Ghana Limited, which provides training and funding for the farmers through the USADF to enhance production.
The interaction was to provide the President of USADF the opportunity to assess the level of work done by Eden Tree Ghana Limited, Mensah Duah and Co., consultants for the project and the farmers.
It was also aimed at providing the platform for the President and the farmers to share experience on good farm practices to produce quality vegetables for the Ghanaian market.
Pearson expressed satisfaction with the level of work done by the farmers, saying it will provide the needed platform for economic boost for the farmers and the country as well. He said the farmers have demonstrated their commitment to the success of the project by the level of success he has witnessed.
The Head of the Vegetable Farmers Association at Dzorwulu, Abubakar Suleiman said the presence of the President of USADF has served as a source of motivation and encouragement for them.
He said the association was committed to the production of healthy and quality farm products for the nation and will ensure that they apply the best farm practices to achieve that target.
Mr. Suleiman expressed appreciation to the USADF for providing them with the necessary financial assistance to improve upon their production.
The Chief Executive of Eden Tree Ghana Limited, Mrs. Catherine Krobo-Edusei Benson was happy to say that the financiers of the project were satisfied with the outcome of their investments and expressed the hope that further progress will be made in future.
She disclosed that plans were in place to expand the project to outskirts of Accra and the farmers have since made efforts to acquire land for that purpose.
The Business Chronicle gathered that Eden Tree Limited is a medium scale company, with specialization in the processing, packaging and supply of fresh vegetables, recently launched 50,000GHC, Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) for out-grower famers in partnership USADF.
This was to make available to the farmers quick access to loans in order to boost productivity, the Eden Tree Limited will serving as a ready market for the farmers.
