The team manager of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) Trustees, Mr. Samuel Ofosu, has revealed that his side is on course by way of preparations for the forthcoming hockey fiesta at the National Hockey Stadium in Accra.

He told The Chronicle Sports in an interview yesterday: “We are on course; it’s been good so far as training is concerned.”

Mr. Ofosu, however, admitted some slight technical and tactical challenges confronting the team, but gave the assurance that they would be corrected before the tourney.

“We have played couple of friendly games, but we have to achieve our required target. We hope the team will peak in performance before the championship,” Ofosu added.

Thirteen African teams, comprising six female sides and seven male teams will vie for honours in this year’s competition.

The male teams include defending champions, Sharkia and Police from Egypt, Strathmore University of Kenya, Niger Flickers and Yobi Desert from Nigeria, Trustees and Golden Sticks from Ghana.

The female teams are Extinguishers and Reformers (Ghana), Heartland, Yobi Queens (Nigeria), defending champions Telcom (Kenya) and Sharkia.
