… As he appears in court to answer criminal charges

From Alfred Adams, Takoradi

Mr. Samuel Erickson Abakah, a Takoradi-based legal practitioner who has been accused of pocketing GH¢30,000 belonging to his client, was yesterday rushed to hospital for urgent medical attention when he appeared before the Takoradi Circuit Court to answer criminal charges brought against him by the police.

The accused was arrested on Monday this week, and detained for several hours before being granted bail to appear before court yesterday.

Whilst the court proceedings were ongoing, a colleague lawyer drew the attention of the presiding judge, Mr. Kwasi Boakye, to the fact that the suspect was not in good health.
The judge then quickly directed that he should be sent to hospital, and adjourned the hearing of the case to today.

Erickson Abakah’s alleged accomplice in the crime, Simon Okaintey, was however remanded into prison custody.

The complainant in the case, Elizabeth Addo, reported Abakah, her former counsel, to the police after discontinuing with the civil charges she brought against him.
