Start-up packages for LESDEP beneficiaries

The District Chief Executive Officer (DCE) for Sekyere West, Solomon Agyei Mensah, has donated items worth thousands of cedis to beneficiaries of the Local Enterprise and Skills Development Programme (LESDEP) at Effiduase in the Ashanti Region.
About 43 people benefitted from the package, which compromises start-up packages for sewing, hair dressing, barbering, catering, and three other vocations.
DCE Adjei Mensah emphasised during the presentation that the youth of today deserve the opportunity to work and contribute to the development of the country as their basic right, hence the formation of LESDEP to train and equip the unemployed youth.
“This national policy will enable the youth to support the nation’s effort, and also plan for their security,” he added.
He, however, advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the packages by setting up businesses to improve upon their living standards.
He also cautioned them to use the equipment with great care to prolong their life span
